You Don’t NEED A Travel Advisor
You can totally book a cruise online by yourself. The steps are outlined below.
Choose your ideal cruise line (there’s ~20 of them)
Narrow down to the cruise ship you want to sail (each ship has its own vibe)
Select your room category and location (Inside or Suite? Forward, Mid, or Aft? Port or Starboard? Obstructed? Guaranteed?)
Decide if you need travel insurance (seriously consider your risk tolerance here – many countries require payment before treatment)
Plan your shore excursions and premium onboard experiences (do NOT miss all aboard time – the ship will leave you)
Coordinate travel to the cruise port (flying, driving, floo powder…)
Find a decent hotel near the port (this is a great use of credit card points, if you have them)
Get all your documents in order (is your passport valid for at least 6 months AFTER you travel?)
Make sure you pack everything you need (don’t forget formal night!)
